Earnscleugh Stud Cattle - Hereford

The Hereford stud was established in 1977 with heifers purchased from Broadacre, Waikaka, and Glacier studs.

With the shift to Earnscleugh in 1981 the prefix was changed from Akatarawa to Earnscleugh and the complete herd of cows with calves at foot were purchased from Reeve Williams Glacier stud.

Selected females were purchased at the Eriskay, Waimahaka, Clachanburn, Broadacre and Leader dispersals.

In 1998 we started breeding polls from some of our top horned cows, and in 2008 we purchased 33 cows from the Roselawn dispersal.

In 2011 we purchased the Stanfield Polled Hereford cows and the pick of their heifers and yearling bulls. The horned part of our stud was sold and the 2012 bull sale was all polled bulls.
