Cattle - Composite

The Easy Crossbreeding Option

Founded in 1999 on Leachman/Rissington genetics.

From 2002 we have bred our own composites using our top stud Angus and Hereford females to breed our 1st cross genetics.

Our composites are a 4 way cross of Hereford, Angus (red or black),Simmental and Gelbveih.

We aim to maintain at least 70% of maximum hybrid vigour by introducing 1st cross 4 way cross genetics at regular intervals and using unrelated pedigrees when mating.

Both Red and Black composites are produced.

Hybrid vigour is a free lunch with extra performance over purebreds in all traits and especially the lowly heritable traits like fertility.  The following graph shows the benefits of crossbred females.
